Immunogenomics Laboratory

The immune system protects us from infection or diseases by effectively eliminating pathogens. Lymphocyte receptors including B cell receptors (secreted as antibody) and T cell receptors, target lymphocytes to pathogens and initiate the activation of adaptive immune system. Lymphocyte receptors show high diversity upon generation and high specificity when recognizing antigens. Lymphocyte receptor-directed adaptive immune reaction can specifically eliminate target pathogens, but genome instability can also convert normal lymphocytes to lymphomas or leukemia cells. Our major research interest is IMMUNOGENOMICS and HUMAN DISEASES. Immunogenomics refers to a new branch of immunology that employs genomics analyzing methods to study key immune processes containing the most diverse systems in humans.
